Protection of personal information
Our privacy commitment
Perroquet provides call intelligence software to businesses. We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with applicable privacy law, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
This statement explains what personal information we handle, why we handle it, and the choices available to you. It applies to people who visit our website, who create or use a Perroquet account, or who contact us. How our website itself handles information — cookies, IP addresses, and similar matters — is described in our Website Privacy Practices.
Personal information we handle
Depending on how you interact with us, we may handle: (a) account and contact information, such as your name, business email address, employer, and role; (b) authentication and security information, such as login and access records; (c) billing information needed to process a subscription — payment card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored by Perroquet; (d) communications you send us, such as support or sales enquiries; and (e) content uploaded to the Service by our business customers.
Content uploaded by business customers may include call recordings, transcripts, and related metadata that contain personal information about callers and agents.
Customer call data and our role
When a business customer uses Perroquet to record, store, transcribe, score, or analyze calls, that customer decides what information is collected and for what purpose. The customer is responsible for having any consent required by law and for giving any required notice to call participants.
For that content, Perroquet acts as a service provider (processor) and handles the data only to provide the Service under our agreement with the customer. For account, billing, and website information, Perroquet acts as the organization responsible (controller).
If you are a call participant and have a question about a recording or a request concerning your personal information in it, please contact the business you spoke with. We will support that business in responding to your request.
How we use personal information
We use personal information to: create and secure accounts; provide, maintain, and improve the Service; process payments; respond to enquiries and provide customer support; send operational messages such as security, billing, and product notices; meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations; and detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use customer call content to advertise to you.
Sharing and service providers
We share personal information only as needed to operate the Service: with service providers acting on our behalf — for example hosting and storage, AI model providers used to transcribe and analyze audio, payment processing, and email delivery — who are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations; where required to comply with applicable law or valid legal process; and in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
International processing
Some of our service providers operate outside your province or country. When personal information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and government authorities of that jurisdiction under its laws. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the providers we use offer a level of protection comparable to that required where you are located.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this statement, or as required by law. Customer call content is retained according to the business customer's configuration and our agreement with that customer.
When an account is closed, we delete or de-identify personal information within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements and routine backup cycles.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect information in a manner appropriate to its sensitivity.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or ask questions about how we handle it. If you have a Perroquet account, you can update much of your information directly in your account settings.
If the information forms part of a business customer's call content, we will direct your request to that customer, who is responsible for it. We will respond to requests within the time required by law.
Changes to this statement
We may update this statement from time to time. The “last updated” date shows when it was last revised. Significant changes that affect account holders may also be communicated by email.
